These 4 working memory games are designed to train your ability to rapidly and flexibly switch between different tasks – helping your multi-tasking ability. Technically, this is called ‘mental set shifting’.
As in the Capacity and Focus games, improvements in this Game should also transfer to gains in IQ – specifically your fluid intelligence (also known as Gf). Fluid intelligence is your reasoning and problem solving ability in novel situations, and is measured by the Raven’s IQ tests and other culture-fair matrices IQ tests.
There is no audio in this game.
- Level 1 is a single n-back game, but with 4 dimensions: location, movement direction, color or letter.
- Level 2 is dual n-back game, but with 4 combinations of stimuli – not just 2: (1) location and color, (2) location and letter, (3) movement direction and color, and (4) movement and letter.
- Level 3 is an ‘episodic’ n-back game which forces you to attend to integrated visual and audio information – something you do not have to do in the classic dual n-back. This is expected to improve your ability to form better memories of complex events. Unlike the episodic n-back in the Capacity Game, in this game you train with 4 combinations of stimuli, building on Level 2.
- Level 4 is the most challenging Level of the Flexibilty Game. It is the same task as Level 3 but requires that you switch response hands randomly. For example, on some blocks you will press the ‘F’ key when there are location matches, while on others you will press the ‘L’ key for location matches. This ensures that you are maximize mental flexibility training.
